Germany Blog Props and the Plastic Boyfriend

In case I didn't send you the link at work the other day, check out the Spiegel article titled, "Petra Looks Forward to Cozy Winter with Plastic Boyfriend":

In case you don't recognize it, the Spiegel is the German newspaper that's in the movie, "In the Lives of Others (Das Leben Der Anderen)". It won the 2006 Foreign Language Film Oscar. I'd highly recommend it. It's the type of movie that teaches you something, entertains you, and makes you cry at the end even though you've seen it coming for an hour and a half. Well, okay, not really cry*. Thanks Toby for sending me the link to the Spiegel and Bridget and Jayanti for the movie recommendation. For more information about either fun in Germany (including a great blog about the France trip!), or Toby's rate of pee flow (seriously), check out http://bgbingermany.blogspot.com/. Jayanti's blog lives at

Postscript: In confirming the "facts" of this post, I found this sad article: http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,496414,00.html about one of the actors in the movie.

* Fine, so I cried. But a single tear only!

Hey Heather, Thanks for that article about Ulrich Mühe from The Lives of Others. I'm so sad and shocked that he died recently. I had no idea! Toby and I just saw another movie on Sunday called "Free Rainer". If it makes it to Canada and you happen to see it at the video store, check it out. It's a good movie about a guy who has a crisis and re-evaluates his shallow life. It also has anti-TV sentiments. That's all I'll say. Check it out.

As if you are capable of producing only a single tear at one time, Miss In-order-to-drown-me-you-have-to-submerge-my-eyes.

And nice pic on Toby and Bridget's blog: http://bp2.blogger.com/

I can't tell whether you are actually cold (as the caption suggests), or doing some serious robotic "awkward" arms.
