This weekend I joined Team Fun Matrix (and Bronco Ultimate) and headed to Bozeman, Montana for a tournament. I had a really good time, which seriously says something. It was raining cats and dogs all day on Saturday, and about 6 degrees. It wasn't quite as bad as Flowerbowl 2007, but not far off.
The trip down was about 8 hours, which could have been pretty painful after the stressful day I had a work. Team Fun Matrix pulled through though. We had so much fun with our car games that the trip flew by. I was staying in a different hotel room than the rest of my car, and after dropping my bags in my room, I headed to the other room so that we could finish our last car game. In case you were wondering, the game was psychiatrist. One person is the psychiatrist, and they have to diagnose the problems of the three other people. The three people pick some sort of theme that links them. The psychiatrist figures out the problems and the theme with yes or no question. Funsies. We've been using a new expression after playing: "think outside the beer fridge". I figured out that Mark was barley, then painfully that Lindsay was beer. (The final questions went something like this: Do you come in cans and bottles? yes. Do you have a yellow colour? yes. Are you are carbonated? yes. And you're related to barley? yes. Are you Sprite?) Anyway, Mark was barley, Lindsay was beer, and I worked out that Jeff was often white in colour and about the size of a bread box. I just decided he was a beer fridge and couldn't get passed it. Even when I narrowed down that he was found in nature and had long ears, I still thought he was a beer fridge.
We went 2-2 in pool play in the extreme rain. I enjoyed all of the games, although I really wanted to win the 2 that we didn't. Catching more frisbees would have helped a lot in that department.
Team dinner Saturday night was a off-field highlight. We got free Jager shots just because someones steak was late. It ended up being a two hour dinner (which can be painful), but it was good times.
Sunday left something to be desired. The first game was supposed to be at 11:15, but started really late. It was like pulling teeth getting the game going, which isn't cool when you have an 8 hour ride home. (Jeff did excellent) The team we were playing was super casual about start time (basically refusing to play on time) - they were from Bozeman! Long commute. Once we got going, I really enjoyed the game. It was a good hard one, plus it wasn't raining! We lost 13-8 - boo urns.
Another game would have been great, but it was 2ish at that point, so we got changed, had a quick shower-on-a-stick, and hit the road. All in all, a really fun tournament.
