This past weekend was the Sunflicker tournament in Kelowna. What a great place to be this time of year. They have grass! Actually green grass. It was gorgeous weather both days, warm enough that a lot of people burned on the Sunday.
The team I was playing with this weekend was using Sunflicker as a tryout tournament, so we were split into two teams, Bronco and Ocnorb. Ocnorb quickly became cobnorb, ork-knob and my personal favorite, dorknob. Each team had a great weekend and ended up with a 5 and 2 record. We both lost to Lawn Party to be eliminated from the tournament, Ocnorb (my team) in a quarter and Bronco in the semi. Everyone played great! If you think that's lip service, you didn't talk to me about last Flowerbowl.
I brought my camera this weekend and meant to use it. I never take enough pictures at tourneys. I forgot my big card, but I had the card that comes with the camera. I think it holds four pictures. I took one. I'll work my way up over the season. By Nationals I'll fill that tiny card!
Steve and Weaze set me up with a free place to stay this weekend and took good care of me. Dylan even gave me my new hippy name, Flower.
Unfortunately, the darn day job meant not staying for any of the final. I really would have liked to have hung out and watched. Even leaving right after, I still had to have a nap on my lunch break. When I was growing up, never did I think, "one day, I will have an office with a view all to myself, and in it I will fall asleep on my jacket and drool until in wakes me up." The highlight of the drive home was stopping at the Dutchman Dairy for ice cream. You know, the one with the animals, in Sicamous. Good times.
Note from May 4th: Happy Birthday Mauri!
