Gap Books

This is what I have been reading:

John Krakauer, Where Men Win Glory:The Odyssey of Pat Tillman

I've been hooked on Krakauer (Crack-auer) since Into Thin Air. I've liked everything I've read by him, Pat Tillman's biography included. Pat Tillman was an NFL Football player who decided to become a soldier. As if that isn't story enough, Tillman was killed in a friend fire incident in Afghanistan. I was pleased with the book. I found Tillman's life, not just his death, as I expected, quite interesting.

Rohinton Ministry, Such a Long Journey

After re-reading A Fine Balance, I was inspired to try some more Ministry. I didn't like this book as much as A Fine Balance, but that was almost a given. I did enjoy it - it's worth reading for sure.

Malcolm Gladwell, What the Dog Saw: And Other Adventures

I like Malcolm Gladwell's books enough that I would be thrilled to read a sonnet he wrote in the seventh grade. Okay, maybe not quite that much, but pretty close. My favorite essays from this book were John Rock's Error, Million Dollar Murray, and Something Borrowed. Read it!

Stephenie Meyer, New Moon

How embarrassing. These are so bad. Why do I want to read the third and fourth ones so badly?

Lawrence Hill, The Book Of Negroes

This book had several attributes that could have placed it among my favorites. It's by a Canadian author, it's historical fiction, and it's interesting subject matter. I didn't love it. I enjoyed it. It's a good story. That said, for some reason I just wasn't captivated. By the time I finally really got into it, it ended. My advice: read it because it's Canadian, but don't expect to be blown away.
