My bike ride day was lots of fun. Enough so that I kind of wish that I rented one the next day too. I didn't, because riding and going to a museum doing do super well together, plus my ass hurt. I rode to Klosterneuburg Tulln, a little but OMG-steep hike just north of town. It was a great riding/hiking combo day, and nice to get some exercise again, although my sore knee protested.
There are bike lanes everywhere in Vienna, complete with your own traffic lights It's a very safe way to get around. My only complaint with the bike lanes is that I spend a lot of time waiting, since the lanes snake inefficiently around major intersections and back and forth under the strassenbahn lines. Still, overall, amazing. This was another hot day, so it was a good day for riding/hiking.
I was hoping to go see an opera - standing room only tickets are 4 Euros - but alas, it's the summer break right now. On my ride, I passed a big electric sign that said "upcoming Vienna music" (but in German), with I thought might be promising for an alternative. But then in said....Lady Gaga. Of course.
