Calgary

I'm back in Toronto after a week plus in Calgary visiting my family and catching up with friends over the holidays. I'm not going to lie, I would like to have stayed for one more week. That is a strong statement when you consider it was -24 C two days ago. Brr.

Highlights were many, including family time, baby-meeting and a day of snowboarding.

My nephew weighs 23 lbs now!

If I missed you in Calgary (there were several) - sorry - I would have loved to catch up, but it will have to be on my next trip.

Snowboarding was hilarious. It's been 3-ish years since I've been on a board, and I wasn't sure I would be able to get off the chair lift standing, let alone turn. I guess it's just like riding a bike. (Although keep in mind I always mock that expression when I inevitably bail on my first ride of the season). I even felt a rush of comfort on my board by the end of the day. Naturally I picked up a little speed, and I'm sure you can guess where this story is going. I had a giant cartwheeling and facewashing bail, naturally right under the chairlift for maximum numbers of witnesses. I didn't hurt myself at all and was laughing as I brushed the snow off my goggle-less face.
