Green Bin Solution for an Apartment Building?

The apartment I just moved in to does not have an organics pick up through the City of Toronto.  Whut???  Yes!  Crappy, hey?  This is the third apartment that I have lived in in the city, but the first two were apartment's in houses, so they had service.  The City of Toronto website say that green bin service to apartments is being phased in, but I'm surprised it is still it's infancy.  Think of the number of Toronto residents living in apartment buildings.....eep.

Back to the immediate - HELP! - what do I do with my organics?  We are currently separating them (still), and have a three part plan.  1.  Bug the super about options.  2. bring the green bin to Jo's parents, if going anyway.  3.  Sneak into the neighbourhood on garbage day and put our green bin bag in someone's green bin.  Switch it up every time.

There has got to be a better way.  Does anyone have suggestions?  (Vericomposting is not my first choice). Is anyone reading this that is in a non-serviced apartment?  Do you live in a house near Spadina and St. Clair that has extra room in your green bin on garbage day?

I wish Calgary did green bins! (Though I would be still looking for an apartment solution as they don't do multi-unit recycling). I used to bring my compost into our last office buildings bin. Now I just toss it and feel guilty....
Not into vermicomposting either though I did look into it (not really big on bugs) - your sis
