Flowerbowl 2009

I wasn't expecting big things this year from Flowerbowl, because a lot of the teams that I go to have my ass handed to me by were going to Cal States instead. None the less, it was a super fun tournament. We ended up coming third, which was sweet and disappointing at the same time. Only disappointing because I always want to play the final, and also because I think it would have been possible to beat the team that won. The final that happened in reality was actually a Vancouver team versus a Seattle team. At least it was a no-brainer on who to cheer for. The Vancouver team had lots of friends on it, and the Seattle team made a number of seriously TERRIBLE calls in our game. It looked like there were a few in the final as well, but I didn't exactly have the best perspective. They made a couple of Mulligan calls in our game: they would get stall-counted or D'ed, call mulligan, score, and cheer like they had made the semi's at UPAs. Lame. Anyway, the final was still cool to watch, although I would have like to have seen Contraband (Vancouver) win, and I would have loved to have been playing.

Finals aside, third was great, and I thought the team played really well on Sunday. Other than one hideous drop, I was mostly pretty happy with how I did. Things to work on of course (it was the first grass tourney of the year), but still. The drop was bad enough that I have replayed in at least 20 times in my head. Probably more.

Vancouver itself was also lots of fun. Kristin was at the tourney too, so it was great to get some time. The last time we got to spend any time together was the trip! We rented bike and road around Vancouver on Friday (me in flip-flops, really wishing I had remembered my runners), which was great. We also road around the sea wall at Stanley Park, which was very scenic. Wow am I ever glad that was a Friday. I can't imagine trying it on a weekend - too many people, not enough passing lanes. Awesome on a Friday though. Much of the rest of the non-frisbee time was spent visiting friends, which is always great. I also got to meet a few more of Kristin's, which was great. Speaking of friends, Eric if you are reading this, sorry I didn't call you Monday. I will call you (alas, from here, so not to hang out) as soon as I get a chance. I also think I ate my weight in delicious, Vancouver sushi. Sushi is awesome. Vancouver is awesome.

This blog is not awesome, and I keep saying awesome, so I'm going to end it.

Sheesh, with that many awesomes, you'd think you played for Invictus Awesome.
