The Time We All Went Marching by Arley McNeney

I picked up this book because I read a little review of it in the Globe. This little review:

I like historical fiction, and I r.e.a.l.l.y. like reading Canadian authors. It's pretty cool that Arley McNeney made the Canadian wheelchair basketball team a.n.d. is a published author. I bet she would get along with a lot of the exceptional athlete/smarties that I know.

I liked the book, but I didn't love it. I enjoyed that she tells a story that shows a lot about the hard lifestyle of Canadian miners in the 30's. But, there were bits where I wished the story would pick up some how. I was as if I desperately wanted to think it was a fantastic book....but I just didn't quite. It does pick up bit near the end. (That might be a telling sentence of my opinion). I really didn't like the ending, unfortunately. Maybe you will! Let me know once you've read it.

I like the book enough that I will read her other one. Also - she's really young. I think in ten years, she could right something Atwood-good.
