Snorkeling Buccoo Reef

Jo and I were lucky enough to get to snorkel Buccoo Reef in Tobago.  This was part of a glass bottomed boat tour.  Even non-swimmers would have loved the boat tour part.  I think everyone would love it.  Who does like reef fish?  They are so relaxing.

The snorkeling was the best part though.  The boat was cool, but not as cool as getting in the water.  I swallowed a lot of sea water so that I could say, "look at the blue one!", and "look at t.h.a.t. blue one" and "blue one!  blue one!".  All with my snorkel on, of course, so I'm sure Jo heard "bluuuughh!!", or something similar.

The water was r.e.a.l.l.y. choppy the day we were out.  The captain had a rope out the back of the boat for us to hold on too.  He said, "don't let go of the rope: you will end up in Venezuela!".  If this sounds hard-core at all, it wasn't.  We had floatation devices*, so we didn't actually have to swim, just float, hold the rope and enjoy the fish.

As I said, this was an absolute blast.  The current was so strong, that it felt like snorkeling behind a boat that was towing us!

*not a real life-jacket.  A bit dodgy, really.
